girl scout outdoor adventures

From the backyard to the country, Girl Scouts has a long, built, and successful history of getting girls outdoors. In fact, many Girl Scouts tell us “camping trips” are one of the best things about their Girl Scout experience. It’s true: connecting with nature in a all-girl setting is a big benefit of belonging to Girl Scouts.
Studies show that girls today are not spending nearly enough time outdoors. Technology and structured activities leave less time for girls to get outside and enjoy nature. But as a Girl Scout, she’ll have plenty of opportunities to create her own outdoor adventures and develop a lifelong appreciation for nature and the out-of-doors—whether with her troop, at camp, or with friends and family.
And that’s great news—because when Girl Scouts get outside, they:
  • Discover that they can better solve problems and overcome challenges
  • Develop leadership skills, build more socially, and are happier overall
  • Become team players and care more about protecting our environment
When girls spend quality time outdoors and increase their exposure to nature, they succeed physically, emotionally, and intellectually.
New Outdoor Badges
Launched in 2017 with the Eco Camper badge for Juniors, the new suite of Environmental Stewardship badges are now open for every grade level. These badges strengthen girls’ outdoor skills and brighten their interest in environmental advocacy.

One day I woke up I was up at 6:30 And I wasn’t even tired My breakfast was delicious For some reason (as usual) And I got to school at 8:30 Sharp School was nice Pizza for lunch No science No math No writing No reading No nothing Except for recess and lunch (duh) It was a perfect day Until I came home Until my dad told me I was switching to another state Until a little voice said You’re leaving your friends Your teachers Your favorite pizza Forever I was so cross I started screaming And screaming and screaming And screaming and screaming Until my dad yelled over my screams: “Not until you’re done with school!” Oh. I guess that’s not so bad. Huh.
